Bank Robbery Under Investigation by Niagara Falls Detectives

On February 23rd, 2023, at 8:01pm Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake) responded to the Meridian Credit Union, located at 4780 Portage Road, in the City of Niagara Falls regarding a robbery that just occurred.

Upon arrival, officers determined two male suspects entered the bank, brandished a handgun, and demanded cash from the employees.  The suspects received an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency.  No employees received any physical injuries.

Detectives assigned to the 2 District Criminal Investigative Branch have assumed carriage of the investigation.  They are being supported by detectives from the Forensic Services Unit.

Suspect #1 is described as follows:

–        Male

–        Black

–        50 years of age

–        6’0” tall

–        Slim build

–        Wearing a black mask

–        Wearing a black jacket

–        Wearing black gloves

–        Wearing dark grey pants

–        Wearing black shoes

Suspect #2 is described as follows:

–        Male

–        Black

–        30 years of age

–        5’9” tall

–        Medium build

–        Wearing a mask

–        Wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with “BARRIE” on the left chest and a maple leaf logo underneath

–        Wearing black pants

–        Wearing burgundy shoes

The suspects are believed to have fled the scene in a white Dodge Caravan.
