Detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Homicide Unit continue to investigate a September 6, 2023, stabbing that left an adult male dead.
The initial investigation has determined that officers responded to stabbing that had escalated from a fight between a group of people. The victim was stabbed with a knife during the fight and left on the ground. The victim was treated at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital for further care. The victim later died from the injury.
The incident is not believed to be random. There is not believed to be a threat to the public stemming from this incident.
The crime scene that had closed Victoria Avenue and the near by businesses has been processed by the NRPS Forensic Services Unit. A knife was located near the scene and seized. The scene and roadway have been cleared and re-opened.
