In May of 2024, members of the Niagara Regional Police Major Drugs and Gangs Unit commenced a drug trafficking investigation in relation to a male suspected of being involved in drug trafficking throughout the Niagara Region.
On June 8, 2024, at 3:35 am, on Finch Avenue W, in the City of Toronto, detectives, the Emergency Task Unit and the K9 Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service arrested two males, also locating a loaded handgun on one of the accused.
A search of the vehicle resulted in detectives locating and seizing 6 handguns (including the loaded handgun located on the accused), 1 fully automatic AK Style Pistol and several high-capacity magazines. Further investigation revealed that the two accused had left the Niagara Region, attended the Manitoba and North Dakota border and were on their way back to Niagara, where police have information to suggest that the firearmswould have been sold on streets.
