On Thursday, October 30, 2025, officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) responded to a shooting that occurred at the Niagara Gateway Information Centre in Grimsby. Detectives from 8 District Criminal Investigative Bureau (CIB) have continued to investigate this matter and subsequently identified a suspect.
On Friday, October 31, 2025, 33-year-old Ferdinando PIO of Thorold was arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
Aggravated Assault Discharge Firearm with Intent
PIO remains in custody and is scheduled for a court appearance on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines.

Original Media Release: Male injured in Grimsby Shooting
On Thursday, October 30, 2025, at approximately 5:15 pm, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) responded to reports of a shooting that occurred at the Niagara Gateway Information Centre in Grimsby.
Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) attended the scene and subsequently transported the victim to an out-of-region hospital for treatment. The victim’s injuries are serious but non-life threatening.
The investigation revealed that the suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Detectives from NRPS 8 District Criminal Investigative Bureau (CIB) have taken carriage of the investigation and are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call (905)688-4111, option 3, extension 1009383. This is believed to be a targeted incident, detectives do not believe there is an ongoing risk to public safety at this time.
