Ontario is reporting 409 new COVID-19 cases today, an uptick against yesterday’s drop in cases, but lower than earlier in the week. Still, the trend since August is three to four times the daily average of that month’s daily new case count.
Those new cases are the most recent uptick on the roller coaster ride the province has been on in recent weeks since August, which averaged about 99 new cases per day in the month. Yesterday, Ontario reported 335 new COVID-19 cases. On Tuesday, 478 new cases were reported
Niagara Region reported four new cases today, and one yesterday, raising the total cases ever recorded in the region to 1,007.
“Ontario is reporting 409 cases of #COVID19 as more than 30,600 tests were completed. Locally, there are 151 new cases in Toronto with 82 in Ottawa and 46 in Peel. 63% of today’s cases are in people under the age of 40,” said Health Minister Christine Elliott on Twitter this morning.
There was one new death reported today in Ontario. There were no new deaths reported in the Niagara region yesterday.
Ontario has now had 48,496 confirmed cases, while 41,886 of those cases have been resolved. There have been 2,836 deaths. There are 88 cases in hospitals, with 27 in intensive care and 11 on ventilators.
