Armed robbers hit Grimsby pharmacy

Police are investigating an armed robbery of the pharmacy adjacent to Food Basics in Grimsby.

Niagara police say that two armed men entered the store at 63 Main Street West Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. They demanded a woman’s purse and narcotics from employees says the NRPS.

Police reported it was the “Food Basics Pharmacy” but it is believed to be The Medicine Shoppe in the plaza containing the Food Basics in Grimsby.

The men fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan before the police arrived. They were last seen in the area of Coronation Park adjacent to the mall where Food Basics is located.

Suspect 1 is described as a 20 to 30-year-old man, blonde, 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was wearing a hoodie and carrying a black backpack and a gaiter-style mask.

Suspect 2 is described as a 20 to 30 year-old-man, black hair, 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was carrying a beige backpack and was wearing a hoodie and a gaiter-style mask.

Their vehicle is described as a dark colored sedan.

No injuries have been reported.

Police officers were canvassing homes along Main Street West seeking security video late Wednesday morning.
