St. Catharines, ON — On Friday, August 1, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of King Street and Carlisle Street in St. Catharines.
Initial reports indicated that a male operating an e-bike had collided with a transit bus. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that the e-bike had struck the side of the bus. Tragically, the rider of the e-bike, a 55-year-old male from St. Catharines, was pronounced deceased at the scene. No injuries were reported among the occupants of the bus.
The NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) and Forensic Services Unit (FSU) attended the scene to conduct a detailed investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the e-bike operator proceeded through the intersection against a red light.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken carriage of the investigation and continue to investigate the matter.
