Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision in Niagara-on-the-Lake Under Investigation by Detectives

On February 27th, 2023, at 2:49pm Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake) responded alongside the Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire Department and Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics for a motor vehicle collision on Glendale Avenue at Homer Road, in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Upon arrival, officers determined a 91-year-old male was operating a 2015 Mini Cooper east on Glendale Avenue when a collision occurred with a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer that was travelling west on Glendale Avenue.  Witnesses to the collision assisted by providing lifesaving measures to the driver of the Mini Cooper who was unresponsive after the collision.  He was ultimately transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  The driver of the Chevrolet Blazer sustained no physical injuries.

Detectives assigned to the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit have assumed carriage of the investigation.  They are being supported by detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit.  The circumstances related to the cause of the collision remain under investigation.
