On October 18th, 2023, at 6:23am Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 5 District (Fort Erie) responded to a residential address located in the area of Courtwright Street near Central Avenue, in the Town of Fort Erie regarding a robbery that just occurred.
Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 21 year old male, who indicated he was inside his residence when there was a knock at the door. Two suspects, one of whom was known to the victim, demanded that he surrender personal belongings. A firearm was drawn, and an altercation took place resulting in the discharge of the firearm by one of the two suspects. The victim was not struck by the bullet; however, he was physically assaulted before successfully fleeing the residence to safety. Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics responded to the scene and assessed the victim prior to transporting him to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Detectives assigned to the 5 District Criminal Investigative Branch have assumed carriage of the investigation. They are being supported by detectives assigned to the Forensic Services Unit. One suspect has since been identified and is currently WANTED. The involved firearm has not been recovered.
Shawn Leonard GEORGE-ISAACS (23 years) of no fixed address is currently WANTED for one count of robbery with a firearm, contrary to section 344(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada. He is considered to be ARMED & DANGEROUS. If seen, members of the public should not approach and are encouraged to contact 9-1-1 immediately.
The second suspect who has not yet been identified is described as follows:
– Male
– Black
– Early 20’s
– 5’11” to 6’0” tall
– Average build
– Black hair in dreadlocks
– Wearing a red sweater
– Wearing dark pants
Area residences are encouraged to review their surveillance footage. Anyone with information is asked to contact the lead detective by dialing 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009705.
Members of the public who wish to provide information anonymously are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to persons who contact the program with information that leads to an arrest.
