Niagara Region Public Health has determined that there is a low risk of exposure or transmission involving a visitor of the Meridian Community Centre who has testing positive for COVID-19.

The Town of Pelham was notified Tuesday that a Centre user who was last in the facility Nov. 24, tested positive for COVID-19 on Nov. 30. During the visit, the individual used arena facilities and followed the necessary COVID-19 protocols.

NRPH completed an inspection of the facility Dec. 2 and determined that there was a low risk for exposure or transmission. Town officials do not need to take any further action.

“We hope cases of COVID-19 are seen sparingly in our community, but the reality of the pandemic is that will not always be the case,” said David Cribbs, CAO of the Town of Pelham. “We have followed all health protocols and are pleased to report that our systems are working exactly as they are intended. Our commitment to health and safety inside our buildings ensured this remained a very low-risk case.”
