Detectives from the 3 District (Welland/Pelham) office of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) continue to investigate an armed bank robbery in Wainfleet.
On May 29, 2025, at 4:35 p.m., 6 District (Port Colborne/Wainfleet) uniform officers responded to the Meridian Credit Union on Highway 3. The initial investigation determined that three masked, unidentified suspects entered the bank while brandishing weapons. One suspect was armed with a handgun, and another carried an edged weapon resembling a machete.
The suspects’ getaway vehicle is believed to be a 2019–2021 white Honda Civic EX (see similar to photos below), with front tinted windows and damage to the rear passenger-side quarter window. The investigation determined the suspects fled northbound on Highway 3 at a high rate of speed. They were last seen continuing along Regional Road 24, past Regional Road 27.
Residents and business owners in the area (see map graphic below) who may have cell phone, closed-circuit video, or dash camera footage from between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. are asked to review their recordings. Anyone who sees the suspect vehicle or anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
