On November 15, 2023, at 2:54am 8 District (Grimsby / Lincoln / West Lincoln) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a violent residential break and enter in the Town of Grimsby.
Officers attended a home in the area of Main Street East and Robinson Street North and met with a male victim suffering from serious injuries. The injuries are believed to be related to being struck repeatedly by a blunt weapon. The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The initial investigation determined that unknown suspects had broken into the victim’s home and assaulted him. The victim was able to free himself and get help.
Officers converged on the area. An NRPS K9 Unit was called to the area to assist. Police Service Dog Atlas was able to track and locate one of the suspects near Sandra Crescent.
Nicholas Gerard St. Louis (28 yrs.) of Etobicoke has been arrested and charged with the Criminal Code offences of:
Break Enter and Commit Robbery Forcible Confinement Assault Causing Bodily Harm Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
St. Louis was held in custody for a video bail hearing to the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on November 15, 2023.
8 District detectives have been assigned to the investigation. Detectives continue to develop information. Detectives also have reason to believe this was a targeted incident and there is no ongoing threat to public safety related to this break and enter.
