Officer Involved Shooting on Thorold Stone Road in Niagara Falls

The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) is currently on scene near the corner of Thorold Stone Road and Montrose Road in Niagara Falls for an officer-involved shooting.

On the evening of Tuesday, October 21, 2025, officers from the NRPS and Peel Regional Police Service were actively searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred earlier in the Peel Region. Investigators had reason to believe that the suspect was in the Niagara Region.

A shelter-in-place order was issued for an area in Crystal Beach after evidence related to the ongoing investigation was discovered.  The order has since been lifted after further evidence indicated that the wanted male had fled the area.

Police continued their investigation into the early hours of Wednesday, October 22, 2025.  At approximately 2:30 a.m., officers located a vehicle containing the suspect at a gas station near Thorold Stone Road and Montrose Road.  Members of the NRPS Emergency Task Unit (ETU) became involved with that vehicle.

Following an interaction with officers, a male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The male has been confirmed as Anthony DESCHEPPER 38-years.

Due to the officer involved shooting, the Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked their mandate, and no further information can be provided with regards to the circumstances around the shooting.

No officers were injured in this incident.
