Port Colborne Collision Investigation Leads to the Arrest of a Fort Erie Man

On December 11, 2023, at 12:02pm 6 District (Port Colborne / Wainfleet) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover in Port Colborne.

Officers attended the area of Killaly Street and Elizabeth Street where a white Nissan Versa was located off the roadway in a ditch. The initial investigation determined that a lone male driver had exited the Nissan and was driven from the scene by a passerby. The Nissan sustained considerable damage. Officers determined that the Nissan was stolen from Fort Erie the morning of December 11, 2023.

Further investigation led officers to identify a suspect. At 4:52pm the suspect was located in the area of Garrison Road and Central Avenue in Fort Erie. 5 District (Fort Erie) uniform officers from the NRPS arrested the suspect without incident.

Braedon Lorne Erikson (18 yrs.) of Fort Erie has been arrested and charged with the Criminal Code offence of:

Theft of Motor Vehicle

Erikson was held in custody for a video bail hearing to the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on December 12, 2023.

The investigation into the Port Colborne collision remains ongoing.
