Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls Closed Following Serious Incident – Update 1

The investigation into the circumstances that led to the incident at the Rainbow Bridge remains ongoing by United States (US) law enforcement officials.

The incident resulted in the closure of the Rainbow Bridge and the other border crossings in Niagara.  US officials are currently in the process of re-opening the Peace Bridge (Fort Erie, ON. / Buffalo NY.), The Whirlpool Bridge (Niagara Falls, ON. / Niagara Falls, NY.) and the Queenston – Lewiston Bridge (Niagara on the Lake ON. / Lewiston NY.)

There is no current timeline for when the Rainbow Bridge (Niagara Falls, ON. / Niagara Falls, NY.) will re-open.

We are monitoring the developments. There is no known threat on the Canadian side of the Niagara border.

Members of the media may wish to communicate with Canada Border Services Agency or US law enforcement officials for further information. The Niagara Regional Police Service has had minimal involvement at this time.
