On Monday, November 27, 2023 at approximately 1:42pm, 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/Town of Lincoln) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service were conducting general patrol in the area of Viking Court and Olive Street, in the Town of Grimsby. As a result, officers located a vehicle that was known to be stolen out of the Toronto, Ontario Area.
Officers conducted a traffic stop, where they located the suspect who also had a warrant out for his arrest. Further investigation led officers to seize Cocaine and $660 in Canadian Currency. The total street value of drugs seized is estimated at $3400.
As a result, Simon BIJL (42 years old) of Grimsby, was placed under arrest and charged with the following criminal charges:
Possession of property of obtained by crime over $5000 Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 Possession of a schedule I substance for trafficking (cocaine) Possession of a schedule I substance (cocaine)
The accused was held in custody and expected to appear in video bail court on November 28, 2023, at the Robert S.K Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
