Suspect to Identify in Welland Break and Enter

Officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 3 District (Welland/Pelham) office are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect in a break-and-enter investigation.

On March 11, 2025, 3 District officers responded to St. Kevin’s Catholic Church, located on Niagara Street in the City of Welland, regarding a break-and-enter call for service. The investigation revealed that two individuals committed the break-in at a facility that houses the church’s commercial air conditioning units. The suspects removed portions of the air conditioning units, causing an estimated $20,000 in damages. The suspects then attended a recycling facility, where they sold the stolen property for a profit.

The 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau took carriage of the investigation and, through various investigative leads, one suspect was arrested and charged.

Jacob Golden, 34, of Welland, was arrested on May 26, 2025, and charged with the following offences:

Break and enter to commit an indictable offence Trafficking in property obtained by crime Fail to comply with a probation order

Golden remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the second suspect. He is described as a white male, 5’8” to 5’10” tall, with a medium build. He was seen wearing a grey hooded jacket, grey hooded sweatshirt, grey jeans and grey running shoes.
