Update #1 – Arrest – Collision Reconstruction Detectives Investigating Motorcycle Fatality

As a result of the investigation, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Collision Reconstruction Unit have charged 39-year-old Kyle KMETYK of Niagara Falls with the following criminal offence:

Dangerous Operation Causing Death

On Monday, October 27, 2025, KMETYK attended Niagara Regional Police Headquarters and turned himself in. KMETYK is being held in custody pending a bail hearing, which is expected to take place on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St Catharines.

Collision Reconstruction Detectives Investigating Motorcycle Fatality – Niagara Falls 

On August 29, 2025, at 5:57pm Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake) responded alongside the Niagara Falls Fire Department (NFFD) and Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics for a motor vehicle collision near the intersection of Marineland Parkway and Portage Road in the City of Niagara Falls.

Initial investigation has determined a grey 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle was travelling South on Marineland Parkway approaching Portage Road when the driver, a 43 year old male resident of St. Catharines lost control and was ejected. The driver, who was the sole occupant on the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital by paramedics. Tragically, the driver succumbed to his injuries in hospital and was pronounced deceased.

 Detectives assigned to the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit have assumed carriage of the investigation. They are being supported by detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit and uniform patrol officers assigned to 2 District. The circumstances related to the cause of the collision remain under investigation.

Witnesses to the collision and motorists who were in the area with an operational dash-camera are encouraged to review their footage and contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111, option 3, badge 1009504 with any relevant information.
