On the evening of September 24, 2025, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) took over the investigation of a shooting that occurred on South Service Road near Kelson Road in Grimsby.
Detectives continued that investigation throughout the weeks that followed, assisted by the Special Investigations Services Unit (SIS). Several judicial authorizations were granted.
On October 17, 2025, the NRPS Emergency Task Unit (ETU) assisted with the execution of a search warrant, at a Clyde Street address in the Wentworth Street N and Cannon Street E area of Hamilton, ON.
The following items were seized.
Shotgun 9mm handgun (loaded) MP5 automatic gun A loaded extended magazine 2 oz of suspected fentanyl 1 oz of suspected crack cocaine $1850 Canadian Currency
In total 5 people were arrested which resulted in 78 charges.

All five accused persons were held in custody awaiting a bail hearing which took place at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on October 17, 2025.

Detectives have identified a vehicle and suspect believed to be involved in the shooting. Update 1 – Male Shot in Grimsby
Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) have provided an update to the shooting that occurred on South Service Rd near Kelson Rd N in the evening of September 24, 2025.
Area CCTV footage has been able to provide a better suspect description. The suspect is now being described as follows.
Male Slim build Black slim fit track pants Dark coloured shoes White socks Black hooded sweatshirt with a white shirt underneath Carrying a blue reusable shopping bag
An updated direction of travel has also been provided, as the male was last seen running south bound on Kelson Rd N from South Service Rd.
The victim remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives believe the shooting was targeted and believe that there is no ongoing risk to public safety.

Male Shot in Grimsby
The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) are actively investigating a shooting that has occurred in Grimsby on South Service Rd near Kelson Rd N. There is a heavy police presence in the area, and police are asking for members of the public to stay clear.
At approximately 7:45 PM, NRPS, Hamilton Police Service, Niagara EMS, and Hamilton EMS, all received information about a shooting near the Grimsby/Stoney Creek border. Investigation revealed that one male had been shot and was taken to an area trauma centre for treatment of injuries. Those injuries are considered to be serious but not life threatening.
A male suspect remains a large and was last seen on foot on the South Service Rd west bound towards Hamilton. There is no suspect description other than a male in dark clothing.
Information at this time is limited. The investigation will remain with NRPS 8 District (Grimsby-Lincoln-West Lincoln).
