On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 6 District (Port Colbourne/Wainfleet) received information of a possible weapons incident in Port Colborne, east of the Welland Canal and south of Durham Street.
Several uniform officers and members of the Emergency Task Unit (ETU) attended and have contained the incident to an address on Fares Street north of Louis Street and a second address on Mitchell Street between Nickel Street and Decew Street.
At this time, police are asking residents in the area to remain inside and lock their doors until the suspect has been apprehended.
Out of an abundance of caution, parents with children in the area are asked to drive their child directly to school or keep them at home.
