Male Arrested with Multiple Firearm Charges in Welland

On Monday, February 21, 2022, at 10:00am, 3 District (Welland) uniform officers responded to a multi-unit residence in the area of Plymouth Road and Third Street in the City of Welland for a shots fired call for service. 

Investigation revealed that a female resident believed someone shot a firearm through the ceiling of her residence. 

Officers on scene were able to safely locate where the shot was fired from, and as a result a male was arrested.

Between February 21, 2022 and February 23, 2022, the Niagara Regional Police Service executed three search warrants.  As a result the following items have been seized:

Brass knuckles also equipped with a centrifugal switch blade knife Black Smith and Wesson 9mm Luger handgun Magazine clip containing seven 9mm rounds of ammunition

Jason Leblanc (41 years old) of Welland, was arrested and charged with the following offences of:

Careless Use of a Firearm Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Careless Storage of a Firearm Possession  of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition Possess Restricted of Prohibited Firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate

Leblanc was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
