The Niagara Region reported 44 new COVID-19 cases today. There were 52 cases yesterday and 61 cases on Tuesday.

There were 23 new COVID-19 deaths reported in Ontario today, This brings the total number in the province to 4,058. There are three new deaths reported today in Niagara. In total, 92 people have died from the coronavirus in the region.

“Ontario is reporting 2,432 cases of #COVID19 and nearly 58,200 tests completed. Locally, there are 737 new cases in Toronto, 434 in Peel, 209 in York Region, 190 in Windsor-Essex County and 142 in Hamilton. There are 2,009 more resolved cases,” said Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott on Twitter this morning.

Public health units in Ontario also reporting higher case numbers include Halton Region with 104 new cases, Waterloo with 77 cases, Durham with 73, Ottawa with 70, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph with 65, and London with 63. Other public health units reported 50 cases or less.

The Niagara Region reported 61 cases on Tuesday, a significant jump from Monday’s 35 cases, but in line with the weekend reports of 65 cases on Saturday and 71 on Sunday, the highest daily case count yet since Nov. 10 when there were 63 cases reported.

Niagara Region is currently in the Orange-Control level.

919 cases in hospitals

Ontario has now had 148,967 total cases, with 127,425 cases resolved. There are currently 919 cases in hospitals, with 263 in intensive care and 172 on ventilators.

Hospitalized cases decreased by 13, the number of those in intensive care increased by seven and patients on ventilators increased by 15 since yesterday.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Niagara Region is now at 2,767 with 2,256 resolved. Of those cases, there are 419 active cases, increasing by three since yesterday and 22 active outbreaks, down by three since yesterday.
