Ontario reported 2,460 COVID cases over the weekend, reaching a new record Sunday; Niagara Region reports 55, with one new death today

COVID-19 in Ontario in Niagara Ontario reported 1487 new COVID-19 cases today and 2,829 new cases over the weekend. The Niagara Region reported 55 new cases this weekend.

Ontario reported 1,242 new COVID-19 cases today and 2,460 new cases over the weekend. The Niagara Region reported 18 cases today and 55 new cases this weekend.

In Ontario, there were 1,132 new cases reported on Saturday and 1,328 new cases reported on Sunday, a new daily case record.

On Saturday in the Niagara Region, there were 34 new cases reported. On Sunday there were 21 new cases.

“Ontario is reporting 1,242 cases of #COVID19. Locally, there are 483 new cases in Toronto, 279 in Peel, 107 in York Region, 74 in Ottawa and 57 in Hamilton. There are 821 more resolved cases and over 28,400 tests completed,” said Health Minister Christine Elliott on Twitter this morning.

There were 11 new deaths reported on Saturday in the province and 13 deaths reported on Sunday. There are 12 new deaths reported today. There have been 3,245 deaths in Ontario to date.

There were no new deaths reported in the Niagara Region over the weekend. There was one new death reported today. In total, 77 people have died from the coronavirus in the region.

The Niagara Region reported 18 cases today, 34 new cases on Saturday, and 21 new cases on Sunday. These numbers are below the highest daily case report of 38 reported last Tuesday. The previous high was on June 3 with 40 cases.

367 cases in Ontario hospitals

Ontario has now had 85,395 total cases, with 72,636 cases resolved. There are currently 367 cases in hospitals, with 84 in intensive care and 54 on ventilators.

Ontario continues to see a rise in COVID-19 cases in hospitals. Hospitalized cases decreased by 13, the number of those in intensive care decreased by two, but those on ventilators increased by five since Friday.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Niagara Region as of yesterday is now at 1,657 with 1,345 resolved. Of those cases, there are 235 active cases, increasing by 32 since Friday and 15 active outbreaks, down five since Friday.
