Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton has directed that the flags at Town Hall be lowered to half-mast for the month of February to recognize the lives lost as a result of COVID-19 and to express sympathy to these individuals’ families and friends.

“We are joining our neighbouring municipalities in Niagara in lowering our flags to mourn those who have perished in our community, the region, and across the world due to COVID-19,” said Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton. “

Flags at Flags at Welland city hall were ordered to fly at half-mast in recognition of people who have died from COVID-19 on Thursday.

On behalf of Town Council and staff, I urge everyone in Lincoln to do your part to stop the spread of COVID-19 and prevent further deaths by continuing to follow public health directives. They are not a nuisance – they are a necessity and we are truly in this together.”

The provincial government has declared a state of emergency until at least Feb. 11 and has implemented enhanced public health and workplace safety measures across the province.
