NRPS Seeking Assistance from the Public in Naming Newest Service K9

With the addition to the Niagara Regional Police Service Canine Unit, we are asking our community to help us give him a name.

Joining the Canine team is an 11-month-old male English Pointer, weighing in at 51lbs and a nose meant for tracking.

This newest member will complement the team as a search and rescue dog to help find vulnerable and missing persons as well as to assist with ground searches for evidence.

The Niagara Regional Police Service’s Canine Unit has been fully operational Unit since 1987.  The Unit is currently supervised by Sergeant Robert Kroon and is now comprised of a total of seven Canine Teams;  six of the Police Service Dogs are certified for general purpose patrol while four are cross trained in narcotic detection and two are cross trained for explosive detection.
