On July 4th, 2022, at 1:26am Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 8 District (Grimsby) responded to a shooting in the area of Main Street East and Christie Street, in the Town of Grimsby.
Upon arrival, uniformed officers located the victim, an adult male, who was suffering from minor injuries after being struck with a ball-bearing (BB) that is believed to have been discharged from a pellet gun. Investigation has revealed that a suspect, who was operating a white Mitsubishi Outlander sports utility vehicle (SUV), fired a pellet gun at the victim for an unknown reason.
8 District detectives have assumed carriage of the investigation. With the assistance of uniformed officers assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines / Thorold) the Mitsubishi Outlander has been located and seized.
After having been granted judicial authorization to search the vehicle, detectives, with the assistance of the Forensic Services Unit, have recovered physical and forensic evidence that has been sent to The Centre of Forensic Sciences, located in Toronto, Ontario for scientific examination.
Detectives are appealing to members of the public who may have been in the area of Main Street East and Christie Street, in the Town of Grimsby on July 4th, 2022, between the hours of 1:00am and 2:00am. Residents in the area with CCTV recording capabilities and motorists with an operational dash camera are encouraged to review their footage and contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111, option #3, extension #1009023 with any relevant information.
