On July 25, 2022, at approximately 4:21pm, 2 District Niagara Falls / Niagara on the Lake (NOTL) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a cyclist having been struck by a car in Niagara on the Lake (Virgil).
Officers arrived on scene in the area of Niagara Stone Road near Field Road and found an 11-year-old girl suffering from serous injuries. The child was treated at the scene by Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics and members of the Niagara on the Lake Fire Service. She was transported to a local hospital and then to an out of region hospital for further care. The child’s injuries were believed to be nonlife threatening.
The child had been riding a bike when there was a collision with a black Buick Enclave as it exited a parking lot. The Enclave was being driven by a 70-year-old female from NOTL.
Portions of Niagara Stone Road were closed till approximately 9:15pm to complete the on scene investigation.
The incident is being investigated by 2 District uniform officers. No charges have been laid in relation to this incident.
