Update 1
On August 1, 2022, at approximately 12:05am officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service Marine / Under Water Search and Recovery Unit were taking part in dive operations in relation to the missing man.
Officers located and recovered the man deceased from the waters of Lake Ontario not far from where he was last seen.
Detectives and the Coroner attended the scene and a postmortem has been ordered. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
The deceased has been identified as a 37-year-old man from Mississauga. The identity of the deceased is not being released.

Original Release – July 31, 2022
On July 31, 2022, at approximately 7:40pm emergency services personnel were contacted regarding a missing man in Lake Ontario off St. Catharines.
Officers attended the area of Port Dalhousie in St. Catharines. The initial investigation determined that a boat had been pulling a tube when it overturned, and the male (in his 30s) tube rider went into the water and did not surface.
Vessels from the St. Catharines Fire Service and the Canadian Coast Guard attended the area to search for the missing male.
The search remains ongoing. Members of the public may see illumination flares over Lake Ontario in the area of St. Catharines (Port Dalhousie) throughout the night.
The NRPS Marine Unit and detectives from the 1 District St. Catharines Detective office have been assigned to the investigation.
