Joint Commercial Enforcement Initiative – Vineland and Surrounding Area

On September 16th, 2022, the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and the Town of Lincoln partnered for a joint enforcement initiative focusing on commercial motor vehicle enforcement.

In response to community concern involving increased commercial motor vehicle traffic in Lincoln and West Lincoln, the focus of this initiative was to identify commercial vehicles intentionally bypassing the Vineland Inspection Station and to conduct in-depth vehicular inspections to ensure compliance with road safety standards, as legislated by the Province of Ontario.

In total, over 125 vehicles (passenger and commercial) were directed into the Vineland Inspection Station.  27 vehicles were comprehensively inspected, resulting in 7 vehicles being removed from the highway after significant safety concerns were identified.   Officers seized 4 sets of licence plates and issued 19 Provincial Offence Notices (tickets) for various offences including: defective brakes, excessively worn tires, fuel leaks and overloaded axles.

The Niagara Regional Police Service remains committed to achieving its identified goal of enhancing road safety, as outlined in the 2022-2025 Strategic Plan.  Members of the public wishing to report traffic complaints are encouraged to contact our Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) by telephone at 905-688-4111, option #3, extension #1025555 or by email at [email protected]
