On October 10, 2022, 2 District – Niagara Falls uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a possible abandoned stolen vehicle in Niagara Falls.
Officers arrived on scene on Buckeye Crescent in Niagara Falls. A full-sized fire truck was located parked in the middle of the roadway. Witnesses report that at approximately 1:30am they saw two persons believed to be youth males exit the truck and run from the area.
The limited description of the suspects is that one of them had a red jacket and a backpack.
The truck had damage to the passenger side front bumper, the passenger side windshield, and the passenger side mirror. The driver’s side door was unlocked and left open. Niagara Falls Fire Service, firefighters were present on scene and informed police that it was a decommissioned truck and not one that was actively being used by a fire department.
Officers have been in contact with the registered owner. The NRPS is investigating to determine where the truck had been stored locally prior to be being stolen and the circumstances around this incident.
A large tow service was required to remove the truck from the area.
