On October 11th, 2022, at 8:12pm Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 8 District (Grimsby/West Lincoln) responded alongside West Lincoln Fire and Emergency Services and Niagara Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) paramedics for a serious motor vehicle collision on Regional Road 65 between Smithville Road and Caistor Centre Road, in the Township of West Lincoln.
Upon arrival, officers determined an adult male was operating a motorcycle west on Regional Road 65 near Caistor Centre Road when a collision occurred with a farm tractor. The farm tractor was also travelling west on Regional Road 65. As a result of the collision, the motorcycle operator sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital by paramedics where he was pronounced deceased. The identity of the deceased is not being released.
Detectives assigned to the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit have assumed carriage of the investigation. They are being assisted by the NRPS Forensic Services Unit.
Residents with CCTV footage that captures Regional Road 65 near Caistor Centre Road, and motorists who were in the area with an operational dash-camera, are encouraged to review their footage and contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111, option 3, badge 1009206 with any relevant information.
