Firearm Seized and Stolen Property Recovered by Fort Erie Detectives

On November 3rd, 2022, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 5 District (Fort Erie) began investigating three break and enters that occurred during the overnight hours on November 2nd, 2022.  Two of the break and enters occurred at unoccupied seasonal homes located in the area of Dominion Road and Beachview Avenue and the other at the former Rose Seaton Public School, located at 255 Emerick Avenue, in the Town of Fort Erie.

Detectives assigned to the 5 District Criminal Investigative Branch assumed carriage of all three incidents.  Two suspects were promptly identified, and detectives sought judicial authorization to execute a search warrant at their residence during the evening hours on November 9th, 2022.

As a result of the investigation, detectives recovered stolen property from all three break and enter investigations including tools and copper pipe.  In addition, a 12-guage break action shot-gun was located and determined to be in the possession of the suspects who did not possess a valid firearms licence.

Mark HANEY (44 years) of Fort Erie has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

• Break and enter (3 counts)

• Possession of a firearm other than a restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence

• Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized

• Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

Pamela SAXON (37 years) of Fort Erie has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

• Break and enter (3 counts)

• Possession of a firearm other than a restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence

• Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized

• Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

Both HANEY and SAXON are being held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled to take place on November 10th, 2022, via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
