18-Year-Old in Custody After Early Morning Assault – Port Colborne

On December 10th, 2022, at 3:28am Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 6 District (Port Colborne) responded to the area of Elm Street and Minto Street, in the City of Port Colborne regarding an assault that just occurred.

Upon arrival, officers located a 21-year-old male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.  Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics responded to the scene and ultimately transported the victim to hospital.  The victim has since been treated and released.

Investigation has determined a group of acquaintances met in the area in search of their mutual friend.  A disagreement occurred resulting in the suspect drawing a knife.  After the victim was stabbed, the suspect proceeded to take personal items belonging to the victim prior to fleeing the scene on foot.  Responding officers promptly identified the suspect who was located and arrested at 4:07am.  The involved knife has been recovered.

Jordan Marcel PARENT (18 years) of Port Colborne has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

• Robbery

• Aggravated Assault

PARENT is being held in custody pending an appearance in bail court that is scheduled to take place on December 10th, 2022, via video link to the John Sopinka Courthouse, located at 45 Main Street East, in the City of Hamilton.

Detectives assigned to the 3 District Criminal Investigative Branch have assumed carriage of the investigation.  They are being assisted by members from the Forensic Services Unit.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the lead detective by dialing 905-688-4111, option 3, 1009221.
