Arrest Made in Child Abuse Investigation – St. Catharines

In December 2022, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detectives assigned to the Child Abuse Unit (CAU) commenced an investigation into an alleged child sexual assault that occurred at a pizzeria located in the area of Vine Street and Old Pine Trail, in the City of St. Catharines.

As a result of the investigation, Reun BUTH (48 years) of St. Catharines was arrested on December 16th, 2022, and is charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

• Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age

• Invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age

• Sexual interference on a person under 16 years of age

Detectives believe this to be an isolated incident between an adolescent youth and BUTH.

BUTH is being held for a bail hearing scheduled to take place on December 17th, 2022.
