NRPS 2 District – Niagara Falls / Niagara on the Lake detectives are investigating a weapons call in Niagara on the Lake.
On January 29, 2023, at 2:54pm 2 District uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) were called to a residence in the area of Niagara Stone Road near Ann Street for a disturbance. The initial information developed a concern that a firearm may be involved in the incident. 2 District officers assisted by officers from 1 District – St. Catharines and the NRPS Traffic Enforcement Unit attended and contained the residence. Out of an abundance of safety the NRPS Emergency Task Unit (ETU) and Crisis Negotiators were called in. The house was cleared for safety by ETU officers. No one was injured. One person was arrested at the scene by uniform officers. Further information about the arrested person may be released if they are formally charged. There is no ongoing public safety threat stemming from this incident.
Anne Street was closed between Niagara Stone Road and Simcoe Street. It has since reopened.
2 District detectives have been assigned to this ongoing investigation. The home is being held pending a search warrant. Anyone with information is asked to contact 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009219.
