On April 1st, 2023, at 12:26am Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines / Thorold) responded alongside St. Catharines Fire and Emergency Services and Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics for a motor vehicle collision on Ontario Street at Linwell Road, in the City of St. Catharines.
Upon arrival, it was determined a 32-year-old St. Catharines resident was walking within the intersection of Ontario Street and Linwell Road when he was struck by two vehicles travelling southbound on Ontario Street. Tragically the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives assigned to the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit have assumed carriage of the investigation. They are being supported by detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit. The circumstances related to the cause of the collision remain under investigation.
