NRPS 8 District Detectives Investigating Lincoln Playground Arson

On August 23rd, 2023, at 10:16am Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 8 District (Lincoln / West Lincoln / Grimsby) responded alongside the Town of Lincoln Fire Department for a reported fire in the playground area of Jacob Beam Public School located at 4300 William Street, in the Town of Lincoln.

Upon arrival officers located a fire near the playground equipment located in the playground area of the school. The fire was extinguished by the Town of Lincoln Fire Department. Investigation has determined the fire is believed to have started between 10:00am and 10:15am. Damage is estimated to be more than $50,000 dollars.

 There are no suspects currently. Officers are looking to speak with two potential witnesses seen in the vicinity of the school in and around the time of the fire. The two females were seen entering a maroon-coloured sedan. Both females are described as white, approximately 16-18 years of age. One female had long blond hair and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Police are seeking the assistance of the public to identify the females and anyone else who may have been involved.

Detectives are treating the fire as having been deliberately started to cause criminal damage. It is requested that parents of teenage children in the Beamsville area inquire with their children if they observed any social media posts that showed or referenced the damage.
