Detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 8 District (Grimsby / West Lincoln / Lincoln) office have been continuing to investigate three-armed robberies that occurred in the Town of Lincoln on November 1, 2023.
A suspect entered three commercial businesses brandishing a black handgun demanding money. The suspect fled the area in all three incidents. None of the involved employees were physically injured.
On November 2, 2023, following multiple tips from the public, detectives were able to identify the suspect. 8 District detectives and NRPS 3 District (Welland / Pelham) Street Crime Unit detectives were able to locate the suspect in the area of Glendale Avenue and Highway 406 in St. Catharines. At 6:15pm officers from the NRPS Emergency Task Unit (ETU) attended the area and arrested the suspect without incident or injury.
Johnathan Joseph Jones (30 yrs.) of no fixed address has been arrested and charged with the Criminal Code offences of:
Robbery with a Firearm section 344(1)(a) (3 Counts)
Jones was held in custody for a video bail hearing to the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on November 3, 2023.
The investigation remains ongoing by detectives. Further charges are anticipated. Detectives would like to acknowledge the assistance of the community and media in identifying the suspect.
