On November 6th, 2023, at 9:49am Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake) responded to a stabbing that just occurred in the area of Victoria Avenue and Buttrey Street, in the City of Niagara Falls.
Upon arrival, officers learned a 37 year old male from the City of Niagara Falls had been assaulted with a weapon. Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to an out-of-town trauma centre with what was believed to be life-threatening injuries. The victim’s injuries have since been downgraded to non-life threatening. He remains in hospital at this time.
Detectives assigned to the 2 District Criminal Investigative Branch have assumed carriage of the investigation. They are being assisted by detectives assigned to the Forensic Services Unit. Investigation thus far has led detectives to believe this to be a targeted incident that occurred in an encampment located to the south of Buttrey Street.
