Male Arrested and Charged with Arson in Wainfleet

On Friday, December 13, 2024, at approximately 7:30am, 6 District (Port Colborne/Wainfleet) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service and Wainfleet Fire responded to a vehicle on fire beside a residence in the area of Forks Road and Green Road South in the Town of Wainfleet.  

On Friday, December 13, 2024, at approximately 7:30am, 6 District (Port Colborne/Wainfleet) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service and Wainfleet Fire responded to a vehicle on fire beside a residence in the area of Forks Road and Green Road South in the Town of Wainfleet.  

Investigation revealed a male suspect attended a residence in that area and asked if he could get a ride to which the home residents declined as he was a stranger.

The male suspect reattended the residence and set a vehicle on fire that was at the residence.

As a result of the investigation detectives were able to identify the male suspect.

Richard Sharpe (34 years old) of Dunnville, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offence:

Arson causing damage to property

Sharpe was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on December 13, 2024 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street, St. Catharines.
