NRPS Investigating Serious Motor Vehicle Collision on Queenston Street – St. Catharines

On June 13, 2025, at 2:04 a.m., emergency services personnel responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle collision in St. Catharines.

Uniform officers from the 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) office of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) attended the intersection of Queenston Street and Hartzel Road. The initial investigation determined that a white 2017 Dodge Journey had left the roadway and struck a tree. The Dodge was demolished as a result of the collision.

A 44-year-old male passenger from St. Catharines was treated at the scene by Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics and St. Catharines Fire Services personnel for serious injuries. He was then transported to an out-of-region hospital for further care.

The NRPS K9 Unit attended the scene but was unable to locate any other involved individuals.

Detectives from the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit and 1 District Detective Office were called to the scene and were assisted by Detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit.

Investigators believe the Dodge Journey had been stolen from a local automotive business a short time before the collision and was occupied only by the driver.

Roads in the area were reopened at approximately 1:19 p.m.

The cause of the collision and the identity of the driver remain under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the investigating officers by calling 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1008389.
