In June of 2025, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Street Crime Unit detectives assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) and detectives with the Opiod Enforcement and Education Unit (OEEU) commenced an investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs out of a St. Catharines residence.
On Thursday, July 10, 2025, detectives received judicial authorization to execute a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on the St. Catharines residence. With assistance from detectives with the OEEU, NRPS Emergency Task Unit (ETU) and K9 Unit, six individuals were arrested.
As a result of the investigation police seized the following:
– 73.7 gram of suspected fentanyl
– 157.4 grams of suspected cocaine
– 5.9 grams of suspected crack cocaine
– 35 pills of suspected dilaudid
– 60 pills of suspected oxycodone
– 535 pills of suspected methamphetamine
– $1980 in Canadian Currency
– $400 in United States Currency
Alexander SNEYD, a 41-year-old resident of St. Catharines, has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
– Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking
Nicole GOOSSEN, a 32-year-old resident of St. Catharines, has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
– Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking
Lance EVANS, a 59-year-old resident of St. Catharines, has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
– Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking
Brandon MARLEAU (41 years) of St. Catharines has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
– Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
In addition, two individuals wanted by the NRPS were also arrested.
SNEYD, GOOSSEN, EVANS, and MARLEAU, were held in custody and attended a bail hearing Friday, July 11, 2025, via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines.
SNEYD and MARLEAU were remanded into custody while GOOSSEN and EVANS were released with future court dates.
The OEEU is funded by the Ontario Government’s Community and Safety Policing Grant. The OEEU is a Niagara Regional Police Service initiative focused on education regarding the risk associated with illicit opioid use, while incorporating enforcement to address opioid-related issues within our community.
