Traffic Initiative Focused on Reducing Excessive Speeding

Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) members of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) conducted a focused traffic safety initiative aimed at addressing excessive speeding in rural areas across the Niagara Region. The initiative took place from Thursday, July 10, 2025, to Sunday, July 13, 2025.

Over the course of the campaign, officers conducted focused patrols and proactive enforcement in high-risk rural areas, identified through collision data and community complaints. The education and enforcement initiative was designed to improve road safety and raise awareness among motorists about the dangers of speeding on rural roads.

The TEU initiative resulted in the following:

–          4 Part III Summons

–          47 Provincial Offence Notices

–          2 Suspension Notices

–          23 Warnings

In addition, two stunt driving investigations were initiated. As a result of both investigations, both drivers were charged with Driving While Performing a Stunt and Speeding resulting in a 30-day license suspension and a 14-day vehicle seizure.
