Environment Canada has issued a thunderstorm watch this afternoon and into this evening across the Niagara Region.
“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Hazard: Wind gusts up to 100 km/h, nickel size hail and locally heavy rain,” the government agency advised in a bulletin.
You can expect this warning to last through this afternoon and into early this evening Thursday night.
This advisory is in effect for the following Niagara areas:
- Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region
- St. Catharines – Grimsby – Northern Niagara Region
- City of Hamilton
Beyond Niagara, the thunderstorm watches extends to all communities From Wellington southwest to the Windsor area where there is also a heat warning with temperatures expected to reach up to 34 C.
