An online fundraiser seeking funds for a Pelham paramedic, who lost his home to a fire, has raised more than $13,000 of its $25,000 target in just over a day.
Pelham resident Trevor Adams, a paramedic for Niagara EMS, lost his family home to a fire in August.
The fire occurred at Adams home on Sixteen Road in Pelham on the afternoon of Aug. 3 around 1 p.m. Pelham firefighters responded with eight fire vehicles from three fire stations. The fire was brought under control and there were no injuries to the homeowner or fire department staff.
Since then, Adams and his family have struggled to adjust to the new normal, especially as his children head back to school. Adams has four children under age seven, including a newborn.
The GoFundMe program, initiated by Adams’ friends Kelly King and Ian Montgomery, is designed to help Adams and his family as they rebuild what they lost.
Adams was reluctant to accept this help but eventually allowed his friends to set up this fundraiser. “It took me a month to convince him to let me do this to help,” said King.
This morning the one-day-old fundraiser had so far received 131 donations, including an anonymous donation of $750 and numerous single donations over $200. It now totals $13,550 of the $25,000 goal.
