Missing 8-year-old hiker turns up at door of Grimsby residence

Beamer conservation area An 8-year-old boy got lost as he hiked in the Beamer Conversation Area and turn up at a residence in Main Street West in Grimsby

An 8-year-old boy who went missing on the Beamer Conservation Area Trail, in Grimsby, Saturday afternoon has been found.

Niagara police officers called to the area were told an 8-year-old boy was missing and was last seen running northbound on the trail toward the end of the hike, near Gibson Street which intersects in Grimsby with Main Street West.  

The boy was last seen at 3:00pm. Multiple hikers in the area assisted police, including a marine unit, and a K-9 unit, in the search for the boy. Local residents were contacted and advised police that they had not seen him reach the end of the trail.

After a lengthy search, NRPS received a phone call from a residence on Main Street West, in Grimsby, advising that a young boy had knocked on their door and said he was lost.

Officers responded and confirmed the boy, who was healthy and in good spirits, was the missing child.  He was returned to his mother.
