The new Mexican restaurant, being opened by the owner of Grimsby’s The Indian Hut, will open by the end of November.
Well, maybe.
A large “Opening Soon” sign appeared in its window recently. And on Saturday, a woman at the counter of the Indian Hut, next door, confirmed the new restaurant is a venture of the owners of The Indian Hut.
“When will it open?” a reporter from Niagara Info asked the Indian Hut employee. “Maybe end of the month?” the woman said.
“November? This month?” he asked in response.
“Yes, maybe,” she said.

Around the corner from Grimsby’s downtown strip, restaurant signage for a new Mexican eatery popped up in recent days.
The sign reads “Mexican Burrito & Taco – Takeout Delivery and Catering.” The sign is mounted on the side of the Indian Hut building attached at 3 Mountain St, Grimsby.
Lisa Deelen, owner of Wicked Things Gifts and Baskets, located two doors down said the restaurant is a new venture by the owner of the Indian Hut.
A Niagara Info reporter dropped into the Indian Hut seeking further details. After consulting with an unseen person in the kitchen, a woman at the service counter initially denied the Mexican restaurant was affiliated with the owner of the Indian Hut. She later said someone would contact Niagara Info by phone.
A worker doing renovations at the new restaurant space said the owner, who he named only as “Rajeev”, is the same person that owns The Indian Hut. He said the new restaurant would open within a week or so.
The Indian Hut’s Facebook page seem to affirm the business affiliation with a Jul. 30 post that says:
“Dear Customers, Mexican Burrito will be coming soon in Downtown Grimsby. What do you think????????”
Niagara Info will update this story as it develops.
