Man killed in apparent targeted attack in Beamsville, police say

A man is dead and homicide detectives are investigating after an apparent targeted attack in Beamsville early Sunday morning.

At approximately 12:10 a.m .Sunday, 8 District uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service in Grimsby responded to a suspicious person complaint in the area of Fracchioni Drive and Cachet Court in Beamsville.

Police arrived on scene and learned of gunshots heard in the area. A police search located a man dead in a nearby residence. “This appears to be a targeted incident,” a police bulletin commented.

The deceased man’s identity has not yet been released.

The incident is being treated as a possible murder, as Niagara police’s homicide unit has since taken over the investigation. “The public is expected to see a heavy police presence in the area for the remainder of the day,” police advised.

Police said: “Anyone who may have been in the area with dash cams and residents with video surveillance, are asked to review their video footage and contact detectives or Crimestoppers if they observe anything suspicious.”
