A Lincoln man died after he crashed his tractor down a steep embankment in Jordan Station late yesterday afternoon.

Niagara police reported today that at 5:26 p.m. Monday afternoon, 8 District uniformed officers, out of Grimsby, responded to the accident.

A 49-year-old man was driving a farm tractor as he travelled northwest on Twenty First Street in Jordan Station area of Lincoln, when he experienced, what Const. Jesse Vujasic of the Niagara police called, a “medical episode”.  Niagara 411 News, a Twitter account that reports on police, ambulance, and fire response, reported the incident took place in the area of 3854 Main Street in Lincoln.

Near that location Twenty First St. becomes steep and is bordered by a ravine off the left side of the road. Vujasic said the farm vehicle left the roadway in the area and entered a ravine. Niagara 411 News reported it crashed down a 30-foot embankment trapping the driver.

Besides a police response, the Lincoln Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services also responded.

The man was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Niagara police is not releasing the man’s name “out of respect for next of kin,” said Vujasic.
