Ontario reported 1,417 new COVID-19 cases today, an increase from yesterday’s report of 1,249.
The Niagara Region reported 16 new cases today, a ten case decrease from yesterday’s report of 26.
“Ontario is reporting 1,417 cases of #COVID19. Locally, there are 463 new cases in Peel, 410 in Toronto and 178 in York Region. There are 1,495 more resolved cases and over 33,400 tests completed,” said Health Minister Christine Elliott on Twitter this morning.

Public health units in Ontario also reporting higher case numbers include Halton Region with 63 new cases, Waterloo with 54 new cases, and Hamilton with 46 cases, and Durham Region with 40 cases. Other public health units reported 40 cases or less.
There are 32 new deaths reported in Ontario today, the highest daily deaths seen since June 20 when 31 deaths were reported. This brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the province to 3,415. There are two new deaths reported today in the Niagara Region. In total, 81 people have died from the coronavirus in the region.
Niagara cases continue to decrease after the new highest COVID case count of 63 reported last Tuesday, with the majority coming from Lincoln. The previous high was on June 3 with 40 cases.
535 cases in Ontario hospitals
Ontario has now had 98,162 total cases, with 81,925 cases resolved. There are currently 535 cases in hospitals, with 127 in intensive care and 78 on ventilators.
Ontario continues to see a rise in COVID-19 cases in hospitals. Hospitalized cases increased by six, the number of those in intensive remained the same, while patients on ventilators increased by three since yesterday.
The total number of confirmed cases in the Niagara Region as of yesterday is now at 1,884 with 1,617 resolved. Of those cases, there are 186 active cases, decreasing by 19 since yesterday and 14 active outbreaks, up by one since yesterday.
